SAHTEN – The SkatePal Cookbook

£35.00

'Sah-ten' صحتين is the Palestinian equivalent to ‘bon appetit’. Roughly translating to ‘two healths', it is often heard when food is placed on the table.

The book is a portrait of the skateboarding scene in Palestine, told through food. Featuring recipes from various figures involved in Palestine’s skateboarding community: from shop owners, local heroes and volunteers, to friends including Hiba Express and internationally-acclaimed chef Sami Tamimi.

Each dish is illustrated in collaboration with some of the young skaters in the West Bank, alongside Palestinian-Canadian skater Noor Abouseido.

In addition to recipes are interviews with local skaters, an features on the significance of the olive harvest, a yoga sequence to help ease any skate-related aches and pains, and a how-to guide for recycling an old skateboard into a chopping board – all peppered with photography collected over the years.

Designed and edited by Tom Bird.

100% of proceeds help to support young people in Palestine through skateboarding.
